• Backed by at least one recognised eco-certification, or consciously sourced from a small community with ethical production.

Certifications are a reliable way to hold businesses accountable to their standards of practice. For example: OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is a certification that tests textiles to ensure the fabric has no trace of toxic/harmful chemicals.

This is a great certification especially for clothing that makes contact with skin. Chemicals on textiles that are harmful to us can get absorbed into our skin, which is why it's important to ensure what we are wearing is kind to our skin and our long-term health.

This is one of many certifications that can be recognised. Certification is a step for environmentally-friendly textiles, but it is important to remember, certification alone doesn't tell the full story. 

Whilst we are assured of chemical-free textiles, it doesn't write the story for the production of that textile. It leaves us with questioning around the farming, production practices in place and the working conditions for the hands it passed through. This is just a few of the factors we should consider then thinking about the life journey of a raw textile. This is why Sew Eco Stamp 3 is classed as eco-friendly fabrics, but not sustainable.

Think of this as good fabric with verified eco credentials.

    Vlieseline Fusible Non Woven Interlining

    This soft, fusible and versatile nonwoven interlining is made from synthetic fibres. For fusing of small parts of clothing and front parts of jackets and coats. Suitable for light to mediumweight fabrics. It weighs 44gsm and is made up of 35% recycled polyester. It's edging towards the lighter side, thinner but more stable than stretchy and is soft to allow movement whilst providing a bit of structure to your garments.

    With all Vlieseline, always cut lengthwise following the direction of the thread.

    Step 1: Place the interfacing on the reverse side of the fabric with the coated (rough feeling) side facing down. Cover with a damp cloth and iron (on medium-high heat) section by section for around 12 seconds. Do not push the iron around, place the iron down, lift off and repeat.

    Step 2: After fixing, lay the pieces down flat to cool down - leave for about 30 minutes to allow the bond to stabilise.

    This is interfacing is washable up to 60° but reccomended at 30° if using natural fibred fabrics. Iron your finished garments at a low-medium heat (dependant on your fabric).
