Reclaimed Wooden Seam Ripper, for Sewists
This Seam Ripper is unlike no other. Quite literally.
Made by Terry in his workshop, these seam rippers are handcrafted with reclaimed oak wood, and finished beautifully with eco-friendly wax to preserve the wooden handle.
Due to being handmade, every seam ripper varies in finish:
> Length of the handles come with two choices:
Shorter Handle - approx. 10.5cm
Longer Handle - approx. 12cm
> The blades come with two choices:
Small or Large
Choose your size handle and blade from the variant options.
As each seam ripper is made by hand, there isn't such a thing as perfection. You may find tiny flaws or imperfections in the finish but these aren't faults - they are simply part of their unique charm.
Each Seam Ripper comes with a 1 Year Guarantee.
Why isn't this a Sustainable Seam Ripper?
To be clear - it isn't a 100% sustainable seam ripper, but it does happen to be one of the most sustainable seam rippers on the market.
A typical seam ripper would have been made with plastic, in a unsustainable factory with questionable working conditions.
This seam ripper handle has been made from reclaimed FSC wood, sourced from a local Bournemouth business that would have sent this leftover wood to landfill. The handles are then handcrafted by Terry, and finished with environmentally friendly wax to preserve the wood.
The blade itself, cannot be traced on it's sustainability. Due to lack of manufacturers who supply this product, this part of the seam ripper had to be sourced from a factory in China. It means we can't guarantee how the conditions in which the blade were made.
This is why our seam ripper, isn't 100% sustainable, but it does make it a more sustainable alternative.
However, for the best transparency on this wooden seam rippers end journey, we've shown you the breakdown costs of how much it takes to make this seam ripper. See images for further detail.
